As a presentation true to the opera’s spirit, it could hardly be bettered. Indeed, it is hard to imagine this opera being given a more sympathetic or more convincing production.

Yvonne Howard burned with misplaced passion as Federico’s overbearing Mama, Fflur Wyn was desperately sweet as his luckless fiancee Vivetta…it’s good stuff; you should try and see it.
